The Town Council has awarded a new garbage and recycling contract to GMI. This was a decision made by the Town Council following the contract process required by law. GMI will begin providing garbage and recycling services to St. John beginning October 30th.
Pickup Schedule & Transition
Garbage and recycling pickup will continue weekly:
–West Side of US 41–
- Last pickup with Republic Services: Monday, October 26th
- First pickup with GMI: Friday, October 30th
- Regular pickup day with GMI: Fridays
–East Side of US 41–
- Last pickup with Republic Services: Monday, October 26th
- First pickup with GMI: Monday, November 2nd
- Regular pickup day with GMI: Mondays
New Bins & Bin Transition
Beginning on or around October 12th, GMI will deliver one new 95-gallon garbage bin and one new 95-gallon recycling bin to every home.
**IMPORTANT: Please use your Republic Services bins through Republic’s final pickup on October 26th. Republic Services has indicated that its garbage and recycling bins will be collected on that final service date.
Once GMI begins service, residents should use the new GMI bins for all garbage and recycling collection.
New Garbage Rate
The new garbage service rate will be $19.81 per month, which is a decrease from the current rate of $23.49. The new rate will be reflected beginning with the November water bill.
