Children’s Martial Arts Program

We’re excited to announce that the Northwest Indiana Martial Arts Academy is kicking off our next session on April 16th-June 4th!

This 8-week session is perfect for young martial artists looking to build discipline, confidence, and self-defense skills. Classes will be held on Thursdays from 6:00 PM – 6:45 PM at the St. John Community Center- 10216 Cline Ave.

Each new student will receive a uniform and at the end of the 8-week program, there is a graduation at the Northwest Indiana Martial Arts Academy in Schererville on June 6th.

Fee: $79 for the entire 8 week program.

Tap-Nastics Classes

Tiny Hip Hop Dance Classes

Get ready to move and groove in our Tiny Hip Hop Dance Classes designed for ages 4–7. This fun and energetic class introduces young dancers to hip-hop style movement inspired by music video dance. Participants will learn the basics of hip-hop including rhythm, coordination, and beginner techniques like pop-and-lock while dancing to contemporary, hip-hop, and pop music.

This 8-week session is taught by the experienced instructors from Patti’s All-American Dance and is a great way for kids to build confidence, stay active, and have fun learning new dance moves. Skill levels will be determined by the instructor based on each student’s experience.

Young Rembrandts- April Session

Kids Cupcake Decorating Class

Join Marilyn’s Bakery for a fun, hands-on cupcake decorating class! Participants will learn a bit about the bakery’s history and community involvement while practicing basic piping techniques such as stars, rosettes, and borders on parchment paper.

Each child will receive one cupcake and a disposable piping bag with frosting and a tip to take home. Once ready, kids will decorate their cupcake with sprinkles and may enjoy it during class or take it home. 🧁

Kolache & Pizza Kids Baking Class

Join Marilyn’s Bakery for a fun and interactive baking class! Participants will learn about Marilyn’s Bakery, including its history, production growth over the years, mission statement, and commitment to the community.

🍕 Each child will make their own individual pizza using homemade dough, sauce, and toppings of their choice. While the pizzas bake, participants will learn how to pipe filling and fold their own kolache to take home.
🥐 While the kolaches are baking, children will enjoy their freshly made pizza and a juice box 🧃.

Senior Grade Youth Summer Volleyball

Get ready for another summer of sand volleyball at Heartland Park! The league is co-ed for grades 5-12 (2026-2027 Academic Year).

Games will be played on Wednesday and Sunday evenings starting June 7 and ending with a single elimination tournament on August 2nd. Times and schedules will be announced closer to season opener!

Beginners Hip Hop Dance Classes

Our Beginner Hip Hop Dance Class is perfect for kids ages 6–10 who are ready to move, groove, and learn the fundamentals of hip hop dance. Taught by Patti’s All-American Dance Teachers, this 8-week session introduces dancers to a fun blend of jazz, funk, and hip hop styles.

Participants will learn rhythm, coordination, and beginner technical tricks while dancing to contemporary, hip-hop, pop, and dance music. 🎧✨ Unlike traditional jazz classes, hip hop focuses less on leaps and turns and more on musicality, style, and fun technical moves like pop-and-lock.

The entry level will depend on the dance experience of the student, and advancement to the next level will be determined by the instructor. 💃🕺

Ballet & Gymnastics Classes

This exciting class combines ballet and gymnastics to help children build strength, coordination, and confidence while having fun and staying active! Each class includes 30 minutes of ballet and 25 minutes of gymnastics.

During the ballet portion, students will begin with stretches and warm-ups before working on ballet technique at the barre and on the center floor. Dancers will begin putting together combinations and practicing progressions across the floor, finishing the lesson with a fun song.

During the gymnastics portion, participants will learn tumbling skills on the spring floor and practice techniques on the uneven bars, balance beam, trampoline, and tumbl trak. Children will develop strength, flexibility, and balance while also learning how to work well with others.

Beginners Lyrical Dance Classes

Lyrical dance is a soft, flowing style of dance that combines elements of ballet, jazz, and modern dance while encouraging emotion and imagination through movement. This expressive style has become increasingly popular for its beautiful stage presence and soothing, graceful quality.

In this beginner class, students will learn the fundamentals of lyrical dance while developing coordination, flexibility, and confidence. Dancers will work on basic technique and expressive movement while learning combinations set to music.

Game On- Bricks 4 Kidz Workshop

For kids today, it’s all about the world of video games and apps! In this interactive summer workshop, campers will use LEGO® bricks to build and create characters inspired by their favorite games.

Popular themes like Super Mario Bros, Roblox, Beyblades, Pokémon, and Minecraft come to life through robots, mosaics, and 3D builds. Campers will also explore classic favorites like Zelda, Duck Hunt, Pac-Man, and Sonic the Hedgehog as the virtual and LEGO® worlds combine for an exciting hands-on adventure!

Beginner Swim Lessons

Trust the leader in swim, Patti’s All-American, to teach your child how to swim while learning essential water safety skills.

During these small group swim lessons (4:1 student-to-teacher ratio), girls and boys ages 4–12 will learn:

🛟 Front floating & back floating

💧 Becoming comfortable face down in the water

No worries about being too cold — the pool is heated!
